Nintendo Switch Games with Physical Releases

New Nintendo Switch Physical Games for February 2018

Added upcoming games for February. I hope you have your copy of Lost Sphear, because it sold out immediately. Looks like Square Enix did not keep a lot of extra stock on hand beyond what they needed to fulfill preorders.

Another game that is proving difficult to get a hold of is Bayonetta 1 and 2. Those two titles are coming out in about a week. The standard NA version is being sold with a Bayonetta 2 game case, Bayonetta 2 game card, and a Bayonetta 1 download code. Japan is getting an exclusive special edition that has game cases and game cards for both Bayonetta 1 and 2. This means that the only way you can get Bayonetta 1 as a physical Switch game is to buy the Japanese "Nonstop Climax Edition." While the standard NA version is still widely available for preorder, the Japanese box set with physical Bayonetta 1 is already being sold on auction sites for over twice the original retail price.

This month sees the release of two games with some similar qualities that are worth checking out, Dragon Quest Builders and Portal Knights. An EU release of The Count Lucanor is currently shipping. There is also a new NIS game on the way, The Longest Five Minutes. Finally, the Switch will get a port of Overcooked, a highly recommended cooperative game.

The Nicalis version of Wonderboy has been delayed until the 13th of this month. Constructor Plus seems to have missed its January release and so has Blade Strangers. Blade Strangers might be here in late March, but there is no word on a new Constructor Plus release date.

New Nintendo Switch Physical Games for January 2018

Added upcoming games for January. The releases look like they should be slowing down again after the October-November onslaught. The Lost Sphear release date is finally upon us, so make sure to pick up your copy from the Square Enix website if you are interested.

We are possibly getting two Nicalis releases this month. Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap and Blade Strangers. Both of these are on my wish list. Wonder Boy, in particular, is something I am not going to pass up because how often do you see Sega Master System games getting modern remakes with their original gameplay intact?

A physical copy of Voez will go on sale in Japan later this month. The most important new feature is the ability to play the game with a controller in docked mode. The digital version of Voez was the original handheld only Switch game. I have not played Voez for this reason as docked only or handheld only games seem to run counter to what the Switch is all about. This new version is certainly a step in the right direction and I look forward to picking it up.

Unfortunately, Battle Chasers: Nightwar got delayed yet again. There is a rumor that it might be coming out in January, but I am going to avoid getting my hopes up. The opposite happened with Azure Striker Gunvolt, which got pushed up from a December release to November.

Originally released in 1997, Constructor will have a remake go on sale in January called Constructor Plus. This is a Europe only title from the developer who recently put out a Switch remake of the Super Nintendo game, Putty Squad. An Amiga version of Putty Squad was completed in 1994 and received high praise from gaming magazines who played review copies. Strangely, the game went unpublished for the Amiga, but because of all the rave reviews, the game became one of the most sought after titles for the system. In 2013, the developers of Putty Squad released the original Amiga version as a free download.

Rocket League Release Date

A release date has been set for the physical Switch edition of Rocket League. As the sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Rocket League is a remarkably fresh competitive game with a ton of depth and a high skill ceiling. Rocket League will be released for the Nintendo Switch on January 16th, 2018.

New Nintendo Switch Physical Games for December 2017

Added upcoming games for December. My most anticipated release has been Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ever since the first Nintendo Switch presentation in January and it is coming out on December 1st.

The Japanese only release, Sumikko Gurashi: Sumikko Park he Youkoso, has some great art and no English translation. Syberia 2 is getting a European only physical release, just like the first Syberia. Azure Striker Gunvolt has been delayed until December. The UIG games have also been delayed. Party Planet is a GameStop exclusive.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar and Resident Evil Revelations Collection are now both coming out on November 28th as if November wasn't already the best month for Switch releases yet.

Nicalis announced that they would be publishing a physical edition of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap in North America in 2018.

DOOM Release Date

They did the unimaginable by creating a truly worthy, modern entry in one of the most legendary gaming franchises of all time. Now they are bringing that experience to the Nintendo Switch.

DOOM - November 10th.

New Nintendo Switch Physical Games for November 2017

Added upcoming games for November. My copy of Sine Mora EX just got here. There was some kind of mix up where the major retailers either only had a few copies available or none at all, even for people who preordered. The publisher blames the retailers for not getting their orders in on time. Some lucky people did get their copies delivered on the official release day though.

We have more games that are going to miss their release targets. The most disappointing of which is Battle Chasers: Nightwar. The developers ran into some optimization problems with the Unity engine and are not sure when the game is going to be released for the Switch at this point. Superbeat: Xonic got pushed from October 3rd to November 14th, and is now delayed until November 21st. There is not a lot of news on Redout and the chances of it coming out in October look slim.

A new surprise release for October is Retro City Rampage DX. vBlank put a limited run of Switch physical copies for sale on their website on October 9th and the batch sold out within hours. I was lucky enough to grab one. The title is supposed to ship October 19th exclusively to those who ordered from the website before they ran out.

Monopoly received a release date of October 31st and Syberia is now digital only in NA. Luckily, EU will still be getting the physical copy of Syberia. 88 Heroes looks to be an Amazon exclusive.

There are a lot of exciting games coming out in November. First, there's Farming Simulator, which has been a breath of fresh air for gaming since the series first debuted. Then Nintendo is finally bringing out a physical release of the clever co-op game, Snipperclips. This is then followed by Rockstar's debut on the Switch where they bring over a port of the excellent L.A. Noire. Next is Skyrim, which has been highly anticipated since it was shown being played during the Switch's initial reveal trailer. Shortly after Skyrim, Axiom Verge is going to drop. Gear.Club Unlimited is going to be exclusive to GameStop.

The last game I want to highlight for November is Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, a remake of Wonder Boy III for the Sega Master System. This title is getting a physical release in Southeast Asia and has the English translation on the cartridge. There are still no plans for a physical release in the west.

Fire Emblem Warriors, Sine Mora EX, and Syberia Release Dates

More games have been set to release in September and October. These have all been added to the Upcoming list.

Axiom Verge has unfortunately been pushed back to November 21st; however, this does give the game some additional separation from the Super Mario Odyssey release date.

Sine Mora EX should be coming out in just 10 days and I am ready for a good shmup title on the Switch.

We've also got Fire Emblem Warriors coming to NA on October 20th, which is just a week before Super Mario Odyssey drops.

The Nintendo Switch release schedule is already packed and now Syberia is supposed to come out the same day as Fire Emblem Warriors. Yes, that Syberia, the 15-year-old PC adventure game. Very excited to add this one to the collection

The Switch is also getting an EU exclusive title, a first for the console. The game is called "Schlag den Star." A German native has pointed out that this is likely going to be shovelware. The game does not have an English translation.

Finally, and this shouldn't be a surprise at this point, Soldam has been delayed again.

New Nintendo Switch Physical Games for October 2017

Added upcoming games for October. The major title on the horizon is Super Mario Odyssey, which is getting released near the end of the month.

The Axiom Verge port is also coming out in October, giving us just a little over a week to play it before Odyssey drops. Other games to checkout include Azure Striker Gunvolt, Battle Chasers: Nightwar, and Nights of Azure 2. October could end up being stacked depending on how some of these titles turn out.

Six Months of Nintendo Switch

As of today, we are now 6 months past the Nintendo Switch launch date. To celebrate the great run the Switch has had so far, I've added a rankings section to the site that lists all the physical games I've beaten along with an associated star rating based on my experiences playing through each title.

If you've been waiting on Azure Striker Gunvolt, Inti Creates has announced that the physical version will be coming to NA. The release date should be announced soon.

NBA2K18 physical release has been pushed back to October 17th.

The new Lost Sphear trailer looks a lot more interesting than the first one they released. So far, the title is still a Square Enix store exclusive with limited availability.

New Nintendo Switch Physical Games for September 2017

Added upcoming games for September. There's a lot to look forward to this month including Rayman Legends Definitive Edition and a couple of great sports titles in FIFA 18 and NBA 2K18. The key Nintendo release with English is Pokkén Tournament DX.

Fire Emblem Warriors will see a September release in Japan without English, but Nintendo has indicated that it should be followed by an NA release later this year.

The most interesting games coming out in September are Winning Post 8 2017 and Champion Jockey Special by Koei Tecmo. They each represent a different approach to making a game about horse racing and you can share data between them if you own both.

Wrapping up September, am I the only one surprised that Soldam is receiving a physical release in NA?

New Nintendo Switch Physical Games for August 2017

Added upcoming games for August. The big release for this month is Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. As an X-COM fan, I’m looking forward to this one.

Looks like One Piece: Unlimited World Red is only getting a digital release in NA and multiple sources are pointing towards the JP release having English on the cart, which makes it a good import candidate.

Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack is currently only being released digitally in NA, but the JP release is confirmed by the developer to have English on the cart. They are trying to secure a publisher for NA physical release, so you might want to consider waiting for this one.

Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon is out on cartridge this month in Japan without English, but is seeing an NA physical release October 24, 2017.

Still no word from Capcom on an NA version of Monster Hunter XX.
